welcome to my upgraded blog! i finally decided to take the plunge and convert the site to wordpress.
i had held out for a long time, because i like the way that HTML pages archive. whenever i decided to change the style of the site, old pages kept their original style. with content management systems, it is harder to keep that visual sense of time in a site. now, i will have to preserve memories of the different design iterations through screenshots or something. i am open to ideas if anyone knows of an easy way to do this.
here are a few benefits of the change:
- you can leave comments
- you can search the site using the little pink box at the upper right.
- you can subscribe to my RSS feed, if that's your cup of tea
- you can link to a single post using a permanent direct link
- you can now browse category archives in addition to monthly archives
- i can more easily post from any computer connected to the internet
- i can more easily post photos from my flickr account
over the next little while i will be making tweaks to the template, to give it more of my design stamp. i haven't decided yet whether to move old posts into this blog (something that will take a bit of work), so for now you can find them in the monthly archives (january 2003-july 2007).
update: i've added the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 posts to this site. just one year left to transfer...
