about me

my apartment is filling up with guitars, which i play: a mellow little gibson from the 60s (acoustic), a fender stratocaster (electric), and a new buttery smooth takamine (acoustic-electric).

i study computer science, a path i started while laid up with a ski injury three years ago. right now i'm working toward a certificate in software engineering. a group of us who've taken some classes together call ourselves the javagrrls (even though we don't all take java now, and the group is mixed). i value this community, especially among others who are figuring out how to weave their ambitions in and out of very full days.

i love to cook. i think that care in the preparation of your meals adds to the nourishment you receive from them. it is like giving yourself the present of something that was made by hand just for you. special. the colors and aromas of fresh ingredients are a soothing retreat, and sometimes while cooking i forget about everything else.

oh and i swim. early in the morning. i wake up at six and head to the pool. this is my favorite way to start the day, especially since my friend becca meets me there and we encourage each other, swim hard, and talk about life. then after a long warm shower i start the day feeling fresh and strong.

i am in love with a wondeful being named matt, who makes it much easier to concentrate on the good and positive things and to let go of the rest.

my best qualities are that i am smart, goodhearted, and resilient. my worst qualities are that i am feisty and clumsy. though sometimes clumsy ends up being charming.

i look forward to life's upcoming adventures.

about the drawing

in high school i would take dance classes after school until nine or ten p.m., then i would have to start my homework. i would lay my books out on my bedroom floor in sort of a circle around me, and would set to work, trying hard to focus instead of fall asleep. our cat dusty would usually stop by to try to find a napping spot on my papers. it was lonely and late and quiet but there was something nice about it too.
